Emerald City Comic Con, 2024
Below are some guidelines for rehearsal etiquette for our ensemble. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out via the Contact Us form.
L! Rehearsal Guidelines
Set up / break down: If you would like to assist with set up prior to rehearsal, please check with a board member to volunteer. We kindly ask that you not enter the rehearsal space until the chairs are set up. We also ask you to fold your chair and restack it at the end of the rehearsal, so we can clear the room in a timely fashion. After rehearsal, try not to linger in the lobby talking, as our rental timeslot ends at 9pm and we want to be respectful of the venue staff’s time.
Warmups: Call time is 6:55 pm, and warm ups begin at 7:05 pm. Please be present and ready to participate in warm ups with the ensemble.
Masking: Masks must fully cover your mouth and nose the entire time you are in the rehearsal room. If you need to take a sip of water, you may only lift your mask and quickly replace it. If you need to remove your mask for any reason, you must leave the rehearsal room. We kindly ask you to be considerate of the public spaces of the building, such as the lobby, and maintain your masking for the protection of our community.
No Food/Drink: No food or beverages besides a sealed water bottle are allowed in the rehearsal space. Please contact us during your registration if you require an accommodation to this policy for a medical condition.
Listening: Please give your full attention to the teachers while they are teaching. Do not interrupt, talk over, or disrupt rehearsal, and limit any side conversation while the teacher is teaching. This is respectful to your fellow singers and the teachers, all of whom are volunteering their time to be here.
Questions: If you have a question or comment, please raise your hand and ask the teacher, rather than a section member. This helps the ensemble stay on the same page (literally and figuratively). Artistic guild members and section leaders may not have time to discuss all questions during rehearsal since our time together is limited, but we strongly encourage you to use the Discord server to follow up in your section channels or the #Help forum channel for any inquiry, clarification, or assistance. Odds are if you have a question, someone else does too, so don’t hesitate to ask in the server.
Breaks: There is one ten-minute break in the middle of rehearsal. Masks are required to remain on in the rehearsal room during break. Restrooms and water stations are located in the lobby on the main floor and upstairs. Please pay attention to the time and return to your seat promptly at the end of break, ready to listen to the next teacher.
Stepping out: If you need to use the restroom, refill water, or respond to a text or call, you are free to quietly leave the rehearsal room and step out to the lobby, and return when you are ready to participate once more - no need to ask permission.
Sitting/standing: There are times when the teacher may call for the ensemble to sit, stand, or move about in a particular way. We encourage you to participate as you are able, but please take the accommodation you need for your body. If you prefer to stand during rehearsal, we ask you to stand behind a chair in the back row so you are not blocking anyone’s view if the ensemble is mostly seated.
Sections: We ask that sections stay mostly seated together for listening and learning, but we also allow members to switch sections between songs as needed for vocal comfort or interest. If you are switching between songs, please also switch section seating to participate fully.
